I'm Katie and I'm so happy you are here with us. I began dabbling in yoga eight years ago while pregnant with my first child. It was just something I enjoyed doing occasionally for exercise until I became an integrative therapist in 2011. Under the guidance of Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman through UCLA's Urban Zen Integrative Therapy program, I was trained in restorative yoga, reiki, aromatherapy, and mindful meditation. At the time, I was experiencing burnout and exhaustion from the stress of my career as a critical care nurse and the demands of motherhood, and I felt like I didn't know how to cope. Over the next several years, I began incorporating the self care I learned in my training into my daily life and yoga became necessary not just for physical exercise, but for my emotional wellbeing and survival. This became especially relevant after my third child was born by emergnecy cesarean in 2014. I credit yoga and mindfulness for preparing me to navigate the challenges of a traumatic birth and embrace the healing process that followed. It's my passion to share what I have learned and guide others to fall in love with self care and mindful living.
A little more about me~ my husband and I have been married for nine years. He proposed on our second date and the rest is history. We have three beautiful boys and a lot of Legos. We live in Los Angeles and we love to go to the beach and find treasures at thrift stores. I'm a Certified Family Herbalist, midwife assistant, placenta specialist, blogger, and Instagram addict (@empoweredbirthproject) with a passion for pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. I like to watch crime thrillers on Netflix while I cook, and I often dream about leaving it all behind to be a drummer for a 90's cover band. Life is good, and I'm one happy mama.
